My passion for photography began with constantly moving. Growing up as an Army dependent, I learned early that two things in life are constant: change and adapting to it. With every new place, I collected moments—first through souvenirs, but eventually through something more powerful: photographs. As I got older, I became fascinated with the way photos could freeze time, tell stories and evoke the same emotion as it did circa to present. I spent hours immersed in the pages of Time Magazine and National Geographic, imagining what it would be like to see the world through my own lens and share it with others.

That curiosity & passion followed me into the United States Navy, where I had the opportunity to travel the world. My camera became more than just a tool. My Canon Mark 5D IV became a companion, a way to process what I was experiencing and connect with the people and cultures I encountered. I wasn’t just taking pictures, I was telling stories, honoring moments, and capturing beauty in real time and sharing the family and friends. The cliché a photo speaks a thousand words, is TRUE.

After my military service, and two decades of public service the demands started to take a toll. Overtime became constant, vacations were denied, and I found myself burnt out and disconnected from the very things that once inspired me.

After 22.5 years in public service, I made a life-changing decision to retire. Shortly after retiring from public service, I took a position as a Community Liaison with the Department of Transportation. I was excited to have a career that was centered on travel and to be handed a camera as part of the job was the cherry on top. But instead of capturing communities and culture, I found myself stuck in meetings and conferences, rarely behind the lens.

So, I made another bold choice: I resigned, grabbed my camera and GoPro, and took a soul-resetting trip to Thailand and Qatar. In the stillness of that solo trip, with nothing but my camera and curiosity, I rediscovered a piece of myself I’d buried under years of service and burnout. That’s when photography transformed from a pastime into a calling—one rooted in storytelling, connection, and intention.

My years in the military and public service instilled in me discipline, attention to detail, empathy and a deep respect for human connection – qualities I carry into every photo session.
